How Split Systems Work
Commonly, central heating or air conditioning systems is a split system with air conditioning or compressor bearing unit outside and a coil inside that is generally set up above the furnace in the house. By using electricity as its energy source, the compressor pumps refrigerant in to system to accumulate heat and moisture from inside the house and throw them out. Heat and moisture are taken out from the home when warm air from inside the house is blown over the cooled indoor coil. As the air is transferred to the coil, it "cools" the air. The heat that has taken to the coil is then "pumped" to the exterior of the home, while the cooled air is pumped back inside, assisting to maintain a comfy indoor temperature. Central air conditioning can also be provided through a package unit or a heat pump.
